Tips On Writing Childrens Stories
Theme: This is an insight or view point that a story shows. 1.You shouldn’t say what the theme is, you should “let it emerge from the story.” 2.Don’t preach to children. They should be “explorations of life.”
Plot:This is the story line. 1.The Conflict should be dranatic and it should be close to the climax, and it the end it resolves. 2.A Short story or picture book should have only one conflict.
Story Structure: 1.At the begining, have alot of action, and at the end, bring the story to a promt close. 2.Keep action in chronological order, no flashbacks.
Characters: 1.Complete description of chracter is not needed. 2.Main character should be someone the reader can identify or sympathize with.
Setting: 1.story should be in a place thats interesting. 2.setting of the story should be familair.
Style & tone: 1.Write simple and direct. 2.Use a lot of dialog, wherever possible.
